No Jumping

No Jumping

Sometimes I’m such a rebel. The sign said “no jumping.” The letters were large and as a result carried a serious tone. Yet, I was in a park and that, to me, is the most logical place to find people jumping. The design and placement implied that in that spot, jumping was strictly forbidden. Of course the warning was for the cliff some 20 feet away. Maybe the sign creators figured I knew what loomed ahead and were in their motherly way warning me “don’t even think about jumping off that cliff, missy.” Truth is, I would never have jumped from that or any cliff even with the water landing. But once I loomed over that precipice, it was all I could think about.

Monica, I agree that the signs in our life that warn us are often the incentive to “make the jump.” I started Online Learning in Kentucky in January of 1991 at PCC. I was Dean of Online Learning until retirement in 2012. I would very much like to be part of the Innovation Hub. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance.
